The A1 motorway ((ルーマニア語、モルドバ語():Autostrada A1)) is a partially built motorway in Romania, planned to connect Bucharest with the Banat and Crișana regions in the western part of the country. When completed it will be approximately 577 kilometers long. The motorway starts at the edge Bucharest and continues in the direction of the following major cities: Pitești, Sibiu, Deva, Timișoara, Arad, connecting with Hungarian M43 motorway near Nădlac. As the motorway is built along the Trans-European Transport Networks Rhine-Danube Corridor〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://ec.europa.eu/transport/themes/infrastructure/ten-t-guidelines/corridors/doc/rhine_danube_map.pdf )〕 the construction receives 85% funding from the European Union.
As of November 2015, the total length of the opened sections is 348 kilometers, 97 kilometers are under construction and 22 kilometers from the opened sections are currently closed down for repairs. The parts of the motorway currently in service include the BucharestPitești section (109.5 km), the SibiuDeva section (132.0 km) minus the Săliște – Cunța segment (22.1 km), the Traian VuiaBalinț segment (17.0 km) and the TimișoaraNădlac section (89.3 km). Construction works are carried out between Deva and Timișoara, specifically on three segments between Deva and Lugoj (dubbed Lugoj - Deva lots 2, 3 and 4) having a total length of 71.8 kilometers and on the remaining segment between Lugoj and Timișoara (dubbed Timișoara - Lugoj lot 2) having a length of 25.6 kilometers.
